THE REPLACE PLASTIC BAGS ALLIANCE

The Replace Plastic Bags Alliance is for local businesses to join forces to replace plastic bags in their stores around the same time. The objective is to replace plastic with reusable bags in a manner that would limit extra cost to the businesses. Replace Plastic will support the business in the following ways:


STORE SIGNS

____   window decals for BYO bags

____   signs for PLASTIC IS TOXIC

____   signs for BYO bags
____   signs for Take a Bag, Leave a Bag (to collect free bags)

BAGS TO SELL

____   order organic cotton bags with logo to sell for $1.50
____.  free Replace Plastic bags for customer incentive

____   handout for ‘Buy Three Get One Free’ Replace Plastic bag while supplies last
____   25 cents credit/bag for customers bringing bags to use

EDUCATION

____   panel discussion by UIC researcher on diabetes and plastic

____   slide show ‘Plastic is iToxic and What You Can Do about It’ to show on TV monitors in the store

PUBLICITY

____   local newspapers

____   photos and data on Replace Plastic website and social media 

____   submit photos and data to Cook County Best Practice

Sherwin-Williams, 4538 Oakton St, Skokie – their Corporate office had decided to elimnate plastic bags in all stores in June, 2024, effective immediately.

Sketchbook Brewery, 2 locations, 4901 Main St, Skokie and 821 Chicago Ave, Evanston, starting Oct. 1, 2024.
