PLASTIC BAGS REDUCTION SUPPORT

Replace Plastic is helping local retail businesses to significantly reduce plastic bags in their stores. The objective is to replace plastic with reusable bags in a manner that would limit extra cost to the businesses. Replace Plastic will support the business in the following ways:

____   order organic cotton bags with logo to sell for $.99 bag deposit fee

____   panel discussion by UIC researcher on major health diseases and plastic

____   slide show ‘Plastic is iToxic and What You Can Do about It’ to show on TV monitors in the store

PUBLICITY

____   local newspapers

____   photos and resources on Replace Plastic website and social media 

____   submit photos and data to Cook County Best Practice

Businesses that have signed up:

Sherwin-Williams, 4538 Oakton St, Skokie – their Corporate office had decided to eliminate plastic bags in all stores in June, 2024, effective immediately.
Geetha Foods, 4035 Main St, Skokie – starting Oct. 1, 2024.
Sketchbook Brewery, 2 locations, 4901 Main St, Skokie and 821 Chicago Ave, Evanston, starting Oct. 1, 2024.
